Enduring prolonged sub-zero temperatures is a matter of course for Peru's indigenous mountain people, many of whom live at more than 9,843 feet above sea level. The majority of the rural population cooks indoors over an open fire without adequate ventilation, causing serious health problems. In this area, an estimated 250,000 children have taken to life on the streets and around 3% of those children are under 6 years old. Orphanage support and Bible School help provide these children with a spiritual foundation and structured lifestyle.
